”Poiana Winery is the place where the refinement and gratitude of wine lead to creation and perfection." Suvac Sergiu

Situated between fertile hills and cool forests, Moldova is like a piece of heaven.

For hundreds of years, the inhabitants of our lands have been taming vines – a symbol of continuity and eternity. If our wines have become a bearer of the country's fame in other parts of the world, then Ulmu commune is, rightly, one of their places of origin.

First mentioned in 1502, the commune with the name Ulmu includes several villages of Ialoveni, located at the foot of some secular forests, near some quiet springs. Over the centuries, the citizens of Ulmu have always loved the earth with their souls and have defended it resolutely against enemies. The beauty of these places is famous. Here, in the vineyards of Poiana Winery was filmed one of the most famous films produced in the Republic of Moldova, with the participation of Moldovan actors - "Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven", directed by the Moldovan director Emil Loteanu.

The images immortalized in the area also became a business card for the natives. Also, in the region there are 3 beautiful monasteries, which attract tourists. The waters of the Botna River also have their source in these picturesque lands. A village with traditions and customs, history confirms that the vine was for people a way to perpetuate their culture, customs and love of nature, origins. The vineyards of Ulmu went through wars, deportations, crises and droughts, but they survived like a rough elm, hence the picturesque name of Ulmu.

Here in Ulmu is located the Poiana Winery, which is located in the middle of a wonderful meadow. The wine produced on the Poiana Winery vineyard is cared for with great passion by the workers. The secret of wine is in grapes. The wine is produced from grapes harvested manually from harvesting vineyards in mid-autumn, ripe in the sun. The wine gets a noble taste. The winery on these lands - Poiana, is surrounded by the most beautiful secular forests.

Why does the Poiana winery have as a symbol the sprinting deer?

The identity comes from the following legend:

Once, on one of the golden autumn days, a beautiful deer came to the vineyard. Eating sweet grapes, ripe in the sun, its rich horns tangled in the vine. His groan attracted the gatherers, who helped him free himself and sweetened it with another grape. The deer fled to the forest, but at its edge he stopped and turned to the people, looking at them gratefully.

The natives decided to name the vineyard from Ulmu - Poiana Codrilor, having as symbol the sprinting deer.
